Jorge Carrera Diez

Software engineer focused on product, architecture and systems design. Currently Tech Lead on VidaCaixa projects, engineering partner to EQx in Switzerland and creator of Snowy.

I am a computer engineer from the University of La Rioja, chartered by the Official Association of Computer Engineers of La Rioja. I work in enterprise environments leading technical decisions, collaborate as a freelance engineer with the Swiss foundation that publishes the Elite Quality Index under the University of St. Gallen, and build Snowy to work on product, frontend, backend, data, infrastructure, SEO and agents over a real system.

Tech Lead at VidaCaixa and engineering partner to EQx in Switzerland.

My current work combines technical judgement, coordination across teams and shipping new capabilities — both in an enterprise environment and on an international product where I own the technical handover end to end.

At VidaCaixa I work as Tech Lead in a banking and insurance environment, taking frontend architecture decisions, coordinating technically, reviewing code and aligning with backend, QA and business.

I am also involved in integrating generative AI capabilities, landing use cases, agents and tooling inside enterprise flows with security, traceability and maintenance requirements.

In parallel I collaborate as a freelance engineer with the Swiss foundation that publishes the Elite Quality Index, a political-economy index under the academic leadership of the University of St. Gallen. I took over its digital products and work directly with the index directors and designers to decide what ships and when.

Technical leadership

Architecture, standards, code reviews, technical coordination and supporting the team.

02

AI integration

Defining and embedding generative AI capabilities and agents into enterprise flows at Caixa.

03

Critical environment

Work on a banking and insurance product with business dependencies, QA, backend and cross-functional teams.

Generative AI applied to real flows.

I work on agents, RAG, tools, MCP and LLMs from one simple idea: AI should solve concrete tasks inside the product and stay as maintainable as any other part of the system.

What interests me most is designing the flow: what context the model needs, which tools it can use, how responses are controlled and what experience the user actually gets.

How I approach it

Context before prompt

The value is in the model receiving the right information: your own data, permissions, retrieval, tools and the limits of the use case.

Agents with clear responsibility

I like designing flows where the agent knows what it can do, which tool to use and how to leave a trace you can debug.

Product, cost and operations

An AI feature also needs reasonable latency, fallback, observability, evaluations and a UX that doesn't force the user to understand the system.

Snowy: weather, data, maps and AI in a product of my own.

The project already works as a product: over the last 3 months it has generated millions of organic impressions, tens of thousands of clicks and a registered user base to keep building on.

Building it combines frontend, backend, cache, data, SEO, infrastructure and AI decisions under real constraints of cost, performance and maintenance.

Technical leadership on enterprise projects.

My current role gives context and authority: architecture, standards, reviews, coordination, agents and mentoring on systems with real impact.

Foundation for Value Creation · EQx

Software engineer - EQx (Switzerland)

I work with the Foundation for Value Creation, the Swiss foundation that publishes the Elite Quality Index under the academic leadership of three University of St. Gallen institutes. It is a political-economy index, published since 2020, ranking 151 countries by how far each country's elites create value for society rather than extract it. I took over its digital products: the public index site and the private console alongside it.

If my profile fits, let's talk.

I want to build in teams with product, technical judgement and real problems to solve. The best way to see it is an unhurried conversation.
